Jesus is better than Santa

Jesus is better than Santa

Santa lives at the North Pole,
Jesus is everywhere.

Santa rides a sleigh,
Jesus rides on the wind and walks on the water.

Santa comes but once a year,
Jesus is an ever-present help.

Santa fills your stockings with goodies,
Jesus supplies all your needs.

Santa comes down your chimney uninvited,
Jesus stands at your door and knocks and then enters your heart.

You have to stand in line to see Santa,
Jesus is as close as the mention of His name.

Santa lets you sit on his lap.
Jesus lets you rest in His arms.

Santa doesn't know your name, all he can say is "Hi little boy or girl", what's your name?"
Jesus knew our name before we did. Not only does He know our name, He knows our address too. He knows our history and future and He even knows how many hairs are on our heads.

Santa has a belly like a bowl full of jelly,
Jesus has a heart full of love.

All Santa can offer is HO HO HO,
Jesus offers health, help and hope.

Santa says "you better not cry!"
Jesus says "Cast all your cares on me for I care for you."

Santa's little helpers make toys,
Jesus makes new life, mends wounded hearts, repairs broken homes and builds mansions.

Santa may make you chuckle but,
Jesus gives you joy that is your strength.

While Santa puts gifts under your tree,
Jesus became our gift and died on the tree.

It's obvious there is really no comparison.
We need to remember WHO Christmas is all about.
We need to put Christ back in Christmas.

Jesus is still the reason for the season.

May the Lord bless and watch over you and your loved ones, and may He prosper and bless tihe work of your hands in the New Year.

God bless you all.

Our Christmas tree--the cross tree

Here are a couple pics of our cross tree decorated for Christmas. The tree itself full view, and a close up of the crown of thorns, from Israel, that adorns the top of the cross.
The branches that go out to the side have many handmade ornaments from the kids and a couple that I made as a child too. I'm holding one of mine :)

Elk with twig card

This card is by Pat Huntoon of Technique Junkies/The Technique Trail blog
She added a twig, well 2 of them! She said "I prefer to think of it as a blind. What could be more appropriate this time of year than a hunting-style card?"
Our elk can be seen here on our web page.

our Cross tree for Thanksgiving

As promised here is the pic of our cross tree that is decorated for Thanksgiving.

I still have to stamp our praying pilgrim and add that to the tree.

There are foam tags on the tree, that i backed with paper and wrote family names who we are thankful for on the paper. A bit of floss and they were ready to hang. I think the pilgrims will finish it off nicely.

Alaska Mission For Christ Card Contest winners are...

We have a TIE!

The card from the bear on ice #6 and the card from bear standing #1 were tied with the most points from the votes.

Ice 6 was made by Denise Clark, she used our shaker box template and made a fun shakere box using white and blue seed beads over the bear on ice stamp and accented with 1 Corinthians 13:7

and Stand 1 was made by Jeanette Waters with our bear standing stamp and a sunrise behind the bear, I believe accented with colored pencils. John 1:1 is the verse above the sunrise.

Congratulations to both winners!

Laurel did a stamp demo at the doxie palooza...

and here is what I stamped :)
My friend Jean's Brewster stamped with green rainbow kaliedacolor pad, torn edges, brushed with the same greens, over a black background with our small paw print embossed in our Cow of Many Colors embossing powder, layered on a white card.

Next is the Josie tattoo stamp (daughter Tina has this photo of Josie on her leg) on white paper, over a kaliedaocolor green brayered glossy paper, stamped with the small paw print in black dye ink.

The same Josie stamp done on white cardstock, stamped off (ink up, then stamp first time on scrap paper, and 2nd time on the card for a lighter image), and main image stamped with a kaliedacolor autumn color pad and the edge sponged with the same colors.

Finally a white glossy paper, brayered with the autumn colors of kaliedacolor, and our turkey doxie stamped with black dye ink on top.

Card Contest is FULL!

Our contest is now full with 10 participants! I can't wait to see the awesome cards you will be making!

Here is a card as a sample to show you what I am asking for in this contest. The bear is stamped on cream paper, and I colored the ice block with tombow markers (still on sale!) Image cut out and pop-dotted onto the green paper. Bible verse I found at Blue Letter Bible by typing in "bear" in their search. You could do any background technique on your cards, I just chose a plain background, just remember you can only use the bear stamp and no other stamps. This
challenge will stretch you a bit :)

Here is another card I made, using distress inks on craft colored paper, stamping the bear in black distress and another printed out bible passage.  Im going to redo the bear and pop dot it cuz he looks a bit lost in the background.

Ideas for future contests are most welcome and encouraged :)

Card Contest! Sign up now!

Here is how the contest will work: (note this is a religious card contest). For each stamp you receive (up to 2), you must make 2 totally different cards. You can only use the stamp I give you (unmounted rubber) and no other stamps. You can use any technique or accessory you wish. Full cards please, not just fronts. Envelopes not needed. Card size is up to you but no ATC's. You must use a bible verse on the card front, printed by hand or printed from computer, but not a stamp.
Stamps can be seen here: Alaska Mission For Christ stamps
on the web page, and they are all shown here. (I have more drawings for this category but they are not in rubber yet and aren't part of the contest stamps.)  Suggestions for stamps for the mission are greatly appreciated, especially word/phrase stamps!
Cost to enter the contest is $1.00 if you want 1 stamp or $2.00 if you want 2 stamps. The stamps are then
yours to keep, but you must snail mail me the cards, no emailing of cards. This low fee is to help with postage and weed out those who just want free stamps. I've done this in the past and had no problems. Th
e $1 or $2 must be snail mailed, no paypal or credit card. Cash hidden in a layer of paper works fine.

Email me privately please to join up, don't post on here cuz I may not see it right away. Tell your stamping friends!

I will be donating $1.00 per card received to the Alaska Mission for Christ, and the winning card creator (chosen by a vote and not me, and a randomizer if there is a tie) will receive a $30 gift certificate good towards anything that I sell and have instock on my web page.

Holler if questions, email me privately please (cowtown@cowtownstamps.com) to join.

Bottle Cap Card

We have 11 different bottle cap stamps and 8 colors of bottle caps. You get 10 bottle caps in each pack; sorry there are NO variety bags of the bottle caps.
The stamps fit perfectly in the caps.

Here's a card I whipped up using an orange bottle cap and one of our bottle cap stam
ps:
I used 4 colors of distress ink -- antique linen, broken china and walnut stain on a piec
e of cream cardstock that I crumpled up first, then tapped the 3 colors into to create the
background. The 4th color, dried marigold, was sponged around the edge of the card.
The happy birthday bottle cap stamp, was stamped with the first 3 colors of ink on a tan piece of cardstock and layered over the crumpled then smoothed out paper. An orange bottle cap was affixed with 2 popdots on top of each other, and I stamped the candle from our carved cupcake stamp with the walnut stain ink and cut it out and taped it on to the bottle cap.

One Stamp Challenge card!

Jeanette sent me this card for the one stamp challenge, thanks Jeanette!

She says " I love the circle of flowers. I stamped it twice with black and clear embossing powder on the white card. Once again on a piece  of white cardstock which is layered onto the card. I colored the floral design with a damp brush using markers. I accented the grouping with black ink lines. What fun!" Jeanette

The Eyes Have It!

The brown card with eyes and dragonfly is a lovely card by Jeanette!

You can go here to see our gallery of cards where this and many others are explained and there are links to the main web page for the stamp's specific pages where you can order the stamps used.

Eyes can be seen here; our outline dragonfly is here. The background stamp is not one of ours. Sequins embellish the card--great job Jeanette!

Striped feather and eyes card is one that we have had up in our booth at conven
tions for many years; unfortunately I'm not sure who stamped the card.

This time it is borders and backgrounds. I will be adding some pics of cards made with these stamps as I find them hanging in the store's card lines. Some of the borders are long but could easily be cut apart to give half as a gift to a stamping friend!

The card at right uses the wavy dot border
from the middle of the card to the bottom in various shades of color. The main image is Jesus walking on water; a 2 piece stamp set.

A blog challenge--just one stamp

Can you make a card using just one stamp for the main image, the same stamp for background and any layers?

Pick any stamp you own (CowTown or other company) and create a card that has a main image and background and maybe a layer. Email me a copy of that card and I'll post it on here.

Can you do it? I'm off to find one stamp to use and make a card to show ya what I'm talking about :)

This one is more of what I was hoping for. You can see the background is used with the same mini bandage stamp. I used a golden layer instead of the 2 shown above with the materials.

Look! Laurel has made a card LOL

Yup I made a bunch of them. Used my cuttlebug and did thank you cards for our anniversary party. I did try to rub pastels on them but didn't like how they looked so I left em plain on the front.  I wrote a personal message on the inside, and you can see an atc size pic of us after the vow renewal was inside each card.
