Sermon collage 8-7-11

This is my first sermon collage I've completed. I did one a few weeks ago and will try to finish it tonite.

I take notes during pastor's sermon and then collage what I feel the message of his sermon is to me.

This is the whole collage above, I sort of tried to break it into sections, like comic strip-ish, I may end up adding a bit more here or there. I used pieces of our order of worship bulletin, and a bunch of different stamps.

I was waiting for the arrival of the " ____" stamp, so I could add things that I didn't or couldn't add by stamping.

ATC'ss that I made for a small swap. Background and words from Paper Artsy of England; clock stamped on the sparkly paper is from I Brake for Stamps; also added a ribbony yarn and a safety pin on the end of the watch chain. Also used are distress inks, stazon for the shiny paper, and popdots.

Felt like using some of the new stamps I've been buying lately, and the chicks were the first card I made. The words from Art Impressions; large chick with glasses from Gray Wolf Graphics; chicken wire background from our friend Linda at Lost Coast Designs; small chick and footprints from Silver Crow Rubber Stamps. Distress inks, colored pencil and Tombow markers used, and a spot of crystal glitter glue on da glasschickies (that's what our kids called glasses when they were little.)

Cardstock: Light Green

Inks: Black and Teal

Colored with Copics

To make the border I made an oval mask and placed on card with removable tape. I stamped around the oval with my asst of stamps. The first stamping is teal and the second layer is stamped in black. I smudged some teal ink around the inside edge of the border. Then removed the mask.

I've only done this technique a couple of times. It's fun and easy to do.

I just finished the Animals section by sorting the overstocks and adding them to the dollar stamp section. There are a lot of animals LOL

I am about to put the bottle caps on for half price, well sort of. You used to get 10 for 99¢, but now you will get 20 for 99¢ (please note I will not sort thru to get you non scratched bottle caps; they come in a huge bag and yes they scratch each other; you get what you get and now twice the quantity for the same low price of a penny below a dollar!)

** NOTE: this is for the physical bottle stamps NOT the rubber stamps that you can stamp, cut out and put IN the bottle caps. You will see that a few of the bottle cap stamps are marked down due to overstocks.

yup am sorting the words now, probably the most difficult group to sort, cuz I have to read them backwards on the rubber.

...late this spring/early summer we MIGHT have a sale at the store on things that are not on the web page. The physical store has been closed since Sept. of 2008 and if you see a for sale sign, don't panic, don't start spreading rumors, we may be selling the building and moving to a real house LOL. However if we sell and move before summer, there may not be a sale. We shall see :)

CowTown Stamps is not going out of biz, we are doing great online only, and our area there isn't a huge demand for a physical store. Besides, I'm in school full time with 6 classes!

So all you folks who are in Wisconsin and/or our area, you can go to the web page any time of the day or night, drop an email if you have questions and not worry about driving in the snow!

Other previously placed orders cannot be added to, but hey don't forget I include FREE unmounteds (of my choice only) with every order! This helps offset the s/h cost but hey who doesn't like FREE STAMPS????? (ok once, just once in over 20 years of biz, did a woman say NO she did not want a free unmounted when I handed it to her at a stamp show--mebby she was having a bad day, but I bet everyone who is reading this would gladly take a freebie stamp when offered to them right?)

You can opt to get any of our 3 cushions added to your unmounteds for only 60¢ extra per stamp. The 3 cushions are: double-sided cushion (like we use on wood mounts); static cling mounting foam (same as that ez stuff you can buy); or Halos (the ve-lcro type hook n loop stuff). We will trim and cushion them for you so they are ready to use with your clear acrylic blocks or peel off the backing and plunk em on your own wood (or buy wood from us!)

If you want any of the dollar stamps mounted on wood, then ooooh bummer, they are FULL price! Save money, get more stamps by buying them either just plain old rubber (FOR A DOLLAR EACH!!!!!!), or let us do the trimming and cushioning for you for a grandious total of $1.60 per stamp!

Audrey is another of our design team members (her blog here). She did our pilgrim woman #3565 in watercolor. The cardstock is layered and pattern cardstock is put through the crimper, gold ribbon is added.

Another card by Audrey, using the Pilgrim man giving thanks #333. I layered the cardstock put gold round brads in each corner then colored the man with water colors and pearlized water colors. I then cut the man out and placed dimensional tape to raise him up from the gold/green cardstock.

An awesome card of one of our churches...

This is one of CowTown's awesome stamps - Church, front view. I stamped it in Versamark ink, and embossed it with antique linen powder.

For my sponging, I used antique linen distress ink to keep with the vintage look. I added some flowers and a couple pieces of ribbon, and considered this one done.

I cannot say enough about the distress embossing powders - they are so cool! The texture is still grainy, and it really looks weathered. If you don't have any - get some! The colors coordinate with all of the Tim Holtz inks !! Stamped by Taylor.

Pony Jars on sale

Pony jars, 3 for $1.00 (plus s/h, and tax if you live in my state :) They are approx 2-1/2" in diameter, and almost 1" tall. They are not on our web page at this time. Must buy in increments of three. Email me to order.

I would bet these are the exact same thing as in a popular stamp company who does home parties catalog; I buy mine from directly from the manufacturer of the pony jars.

Angelina fibers cards by Vicki

Vicki recently did an awesome angelina fibers tutorial on her blog. Here are 2 cards she did with our stamps and the angelina we sell.

One of our new doxie stamps, Shelly is used in the top card, with a background of our small dog paw print, and a layer of angelina fibers under the stamped image. Our thinking of you script stamp finishes off this card.

Cup of flowers stamp has been embossed onto the angelina fibers by using an iron. See Vicki's blog for the how to's. The fibers are acid free and made of spun polyester. Soft and luxurious and soo pretty!

Jeanette shared this with me, "I'm attaching a card that I made using a parchment curl frame. The face stamp is from

my very first order from you. And, you'll see the lovely shear ribbon. I stamped the face using Distress Tea Dye and colored with colored pencil.

To make the parchment frame I tore a piece of parchment wrap to size and tore the edge in strips. Dampen and wrap around a pencil, etc., gently remove so as not to disturb the curl and let dry. Easy Peasy!!! The background paper is from a medival theme mat stack."

ATC's and Inchies!

Top pic is the ATC that I've made for the scripture/inspirational swap on SCS. The background is Stampabilities retro flowers, ribbon I had, the SU scallop circle punch, CowTown's peace sign, and SU's tiny word peace.

the bottom pic is all 4 of the pieces I made (i took a spot in each of the atc and inchie for scripture and inspirational.

The laugh inchie uses one of the baby faces from Stampsmith's Ooh Baby plate, punched with a 3/4" punch; layered over our Marvy metallic technique on our black glossy paper; our lip brads in fuchia BUT SCROLL DOWN on this page TO SEE THE LIP BRADS ON SALE; and an unknown source laugh stamp cut out.

I'm glad this swap is nearly postal; time to move onto the next swaps!! I am in about 25 of them, but saw someone else on SCS is in over 50!!! I don't feel so bad now LOL

Here is a layout for an ABC recipe book swap that I just finished the sample of, onto making 27 more! The woman doing the OK is from Stampsmith, they have some awesome plates and images! I got 5 plates and 5 other individual images, this is the first one I have used--so far!!!

Recipe is one my Mom Louise clipped from our local newspaper (dh is co-owner, editor, publisher) from years ago and we love eating it! Please feel free to try it, it is Yummy as my letter for the book "Y" exclaims! Frying pan is from a clear set, unknown source, Y is cricuted, other letters from an alphabet set I've had for years from PSX, paper behind recipe is called what's to eat, SU's spiral punch used on top of recipe.

Will get at the punches soon but now here are some eyelets, brads, my last 2 packs of paper, and butterfly pins. S/h is extra on all items.

The butterfly pins are over 1-1/2" across at widest part, and 11/2" tall. There are (top row) 4 rainbows; (middle) 4 reds, 2 fall colors; (bottom row) 4 rainbows with purple/blue, and 2 with blue/green. $1.50 each.

The last 2 packs of paper from lasting impressions, 15 sheets each, a2 card size. one is collection papers (pink pack) it has 3 sheets each of 5 diff patterns in pink; other is chunky in a tangerine color, 5 each of 3 patterns, were $3.99, now 40% off at $2.40 a pack. I have 1 of each pack, thats it!

Brads: the brads match bazzill papers. (brads and eyelets are $1.19 per pack)

I will get pics of them hopefully tomorrow, but i have a bunch of my personal punches, that I figure Im not gonna use, or they were duplicates of what I had.

just wanted to alert you to the punches will be on here as soon as I can. Today we did musical rooms in the house. Son Aaron's room is now my craft room; dh's den where I had my computer desk is now Aaron's room; dh's desk/computer is going in our bedroom, a few things from our bedroom are coming into my craft room. At top is the anti static bags, that you rub on your cardstock before you stamp to emboss with pigment ink and embossing powder. I have 13 of the bags, were $4.25, now priced at $3.75 each.

Next is the SU spiral punch. I have 1 available, new is $10.95 in the catty, I will sell it for $9.95.

Disney dimensional stickers, I have 2 packs they are new, $2.50 per pack.

3 sets of studio G stamps, these are duplicates, I of course, didn't write down what I had and got dups. $1.00 per set.

EK success punch, new, this is the swiss cheese punch. was $14.95, now $11.95 each, I have only 1 new availalble. PENDING PAYMENT

Mom Louise is in Heaven!

My Mom, Louise passed away Sunday early in the morning. She was 88 and living here in our town at a nursing home. She took a turn for the worse friday morning, and is now at eternal peace and reunited with my Dad who died about 13 years ago. Daughter Krystina and I were visiting with her Friday nite and dd took this picture of me and Mom holding hands. I am going to collage this photo with others and have Mark help me to make an enlarged area for our family photos and keepsakes. I am comforted by my faith that someday I will see her again, and Dad and what a joyous reunion that will be!

The Just bee cuz is a 3x3 or trinchie and the large bee I have had for years and have no clue who it is from; the words, bug trail and 2 tiny bees are CowTown Stamps; the honeycomb is from Starving Artistamps, it's just 3 combs that you can stamp over and over to make your own background. I now have 3 diff honeycombs, can you tell I'm in a bug mood LOL.

The buzzing by to say hi words are ours, the front facing bee at top I think is from Rubber Stamps of America; that honeycomb is from Viva Lasvegastamps.

Here are some cards that Jeanette just sent me (see her blog here). The top card is done on a veneer postcard using our dancing bunnies. Love the look on the veneer! Next is our calligraphy bunny and Jeanette said the lines are her doodling! Love the yellow paper roses! A nice un-busy card that shows us that an un-busy card can make a wonderful statement! Our dutch bunny over brown ribbon is the next card. I like ribbon and am learning many ways to use it from our design team. The bottom card is our kit and kaboodle (the name just came to me way back when I got the design) layered over sports paper. Thanks Jeanette for the inspiring cards! (Jeanette is slowly twisting my arm to start doing inchies--check out her blog for some neat ideas that are only an inch by an inch, including one of our cat stamps!)

Life's a beach card we made

Here is a card that I made for dd to give to a friend going to mexico on a trip. Its from the Cricut Life's a Beach cartridge, using the square card and flip flops. we cut out extra smaller flips to accent; the stamps are clear stamps I had.

Paint can wrapping tutorial

Here goes!

materials:

•2 pieces of the same patterned paper, 8-1/2 x 11

•1 piece of coordinating paper, 8-1/2 x 11, could be pattern or solid

•paper cutter

•scissors

•red liner tape (on our web page in 10 yard rolls!)

•ribbon

•flowers

Step 1:

I used 2 diff pattern papers, one had brown checks the other brown with tiny speckles.

You will end up with 4 pieces that you tape to the can, and

some left overs; the 2 smallest pieces we do use so don't toss em!

cut 2 that are 5-1/2" x 11" using the 2 sheets of paper

cut 2 that are 9-1/2" x 2" from the single sheet of paper

Below i have taped the first piece onto the can. I used 4 long s

trips of the red liner tape going the long way on the paper, and lined it up with the bottom edge of the can.

Step 2:

Take the long skinny strips that are cut from the single piece of paper. Apply the red liner tape, I did 2 strips going the long way. I lined it up at the top of the can, just under the rim. and it touched the bottom paper, but a ribbon will cover that seam. These skinny strips do not touch on the sides. we fix that in the next step.

Step 3:

There will be a gap above the handle metal thingy once you add the other top piece. Using the 2 small scraps left over from the single sheet of paper, lay 1 over the gap as shown in the pic below. I marked with pencil where to cut so it would fit, marking on

the back of the paper (if its white backed). You can see the cut piece, the scrap after cutting it out and where I marked with the pencil.

Step 4:

Using the red liner tape, apply it from the edge of the handle metal thingy (it must have a real name!) across the seam line to the other side of the handle thingy. Peel off the red liner and press your ribbon on. The pic shows where the ribbon starts and it partially attached.

Step 5:

I took some flowers that I got that were layered and put them thru the handle's wire. Then put the handle into the handle hole. I did not glue down the flowers, as the handle needs to move and that would be a problem if they were glued. My next step is

to stamp some things and attach them to the can, I can cover the seams better this way if I wish and to add ribbon on the handle. Not sure of the length, I'm thinking 4"?? If someone knows please post a comment and I'll add that measurement.

Fishing doxie!

Do doxies fish? Sure why not? Here's a card I just made with our new fishing doxie stamp and look! He has caught our bass fish! The birthday words "fishing for the right words..." are layered over a cuttlebug'd purple piece of cardstock. I used colored pencils on this card.

Flamingo time

I love the new doxie on a flamingo which I'm calling doxie riding a flamingo. I stamped it in black ink on the pink paper, and our eyelet flamingo in pink ink on pink paper, a wee bit difficult to see but I didn't want it 'competing' with the doxie :) Our doxie on the beach pawprint stamp, which could make a fun background like shown here or a border is done in a different pink ink on the background. A two-tone pink ribbon was added for accent. One pic is a close up so you can see more of the eyelet flamingo.

Here is one of our new Florida doxie stamps (a portion of their sale goes to the Dachshund Rescue of South Florida) stamped over a background of our carved orange slice, and I added a piece of ombre orange/yellow ribbon, and here is Orange the doxie.

Fern and bunnies

Vicki of our design team (see her blog here) sent me these 3 cards of our bunnies and some flowers/garden stamps.

First is our checkered bunny in pink. Lots of fun layers on this card! Next is our fern (a stamp from years ago) and the latest dirt stamp. Nestabilities were used on this card that would be great for a gardener. Our bunny in flowers looks great on the cuttlebug background of swiss dots. On the mulberry paper you can faintly see Ginger's small rose in the small size; I had to read the how to's Vicki sent to see that she used the rose stamp, it is subtle but very nice!

Laurel's recipe LO for a cupcake swap

Here is my layout for a cupcake recipe swap I am in.

It is a sugar free cupcake recipe, I did try it and it was good! Cricut'ed the "not" circle and the word sugar on the tag, as well as the cupcake. Ribbon is from Michaels. The background is versamarked with a mini version of our carved cupcake stamp.

I'm looking forward to receiving the swap back and seeing all the recipes!

Used stamp blog candy!

I was at a stamp rummage and took my used stamps; i did not take the ones not mounted, and rather than putting them back in the mix, I figured I would give away some used stamp blog candy with them. I have 9 stamps that are unmounted, a couple are on cushion that needs to be peeled off by the lucky winner (shouldn't take much work). (double click on the pic, I think it will enlarge for you)

No clue who they are made by, but hey it's 9 FREE unmounteds!

There is a watermelon slice, frog wearing clothing, 2 geese, a single goose, another pair of geese with hearts, a snowman, a terydacktyl (sp), a skunk and a child with cats.

I've had these for years, probably got in a stamp trade.

Angelina fibers/cuttlebug tutorial

Prayers needed for my Mom and a friend's puppy

Prayers are needed for my 88 yo mom who fell out of her wheelchair at the nursing home last nite and has a doozie of a bruise/bump on her head. She must have leaned forward and landed on her head. she went to the er and ct scan of her head revealed no fractures, no bleeding and her anyurism is stable (its been there for years). Xrays showed nothing broken and she was back in her room about 3 hours after the fall. today she is more alert, still leaning forward so I insisted on a tray table of some sort to be put on, which we think will keep her in the chair. She has alzheimers and dementia and is slowly going down hill anyway. Your prayers would be so greatly appreciated!

Another friend who needs prayers is puppy Roscoe pictured here. He was rescued by Deana, a gal on the Cricut Message board that I frequent and she says this:

"Roscoe is a four month old rescued redbone coonhound that we recently adopted. He had a very rough start in life! We were told Roscoe was attacked by his father after he had already killed four of the other puppies. Roscoe has scars on his hind leg, neck and ear from the attack as well as an umbilical hernia. Roscoe has cherry eye in both eyes that has been treated with steriodal antibiotics, but it didn't help at all. Roscoe is also recovering from a very bad yeast infection in his ears. we've searched and found a vet that will do all Roscoe's surgeries at once for under a thousand dollars and need a bit of help to come up with the rest of the funds! Roscoe is a very fun, loving puppy that just needs a hand up to be the handsome boy we know he can be!"

Deana, her baby and Roscoe where in a bad car accident last week, all are ok, her car was totaled. If anyone can donate or send prayers, that would be greatly appreciated. Here is the link to donate to Roscoe. Here is a pic of the dear little guy.

Colored our cowgirl in with tombow markers, the background is sponged with light blue around the edges, and the bandana red/blue is sponged with those colors, our large paisley and small paisley stamps in black dye ink and our swirl border (that i need to add to the web page) accented with a white pen (adding to web page soon) in the bandana technique from Technique Junkies. Words done with an alphabet set I had that I forgot I had :)
